A new champion at stud

Viva Vegas by Viva Gold – Rock Forever – Florestan I was proclaimed champion stallion among the 4-year-old dressage stallions at the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Herning where he excelled with his exceptional functionality and rideability.

Today, the stallion has moved in at Blue Hors and hence will be named Blue Hors Viva Vegas. Head rider, Nanna Skodborg Merrald and head of the stallion station, Martin Klavsen are both beyond excited with their new acquisition.

– He is a very well-balanced horse with enormous potential, says Nanna who has ridden the stallion twice.

– He gave me a fantastic feeling because he quickly and effortlessly comes back and forth when you ask for it. He has lots of energy and drive and at the same time he is totally cool and calm in the stables. He possesses almost unlimited capacity of movement, but it was his exceptional rideability that made me decide for him, Nanna says and adds that the stallion somewhat resembles Blue Hors St. Schufro.

Champion by blood and performance

At the stallion licensing in Munich in 2023 Viva Vegas became the champion stallion as well as the crowd favourite due to his evident functionality. Later that year, he became the performance test champion scoring 892 points at the Danish Warmblood 35-day-test. At the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Herning this year he was proclaimed champion stallion with marks such as 8.5 for walk, 9 for trot, 9.5 for canter and 9 for his topline function.

Blue Hors Viva Vegas is from the first crop of foals by the internationally sought-after Vivaldi son Viva Gold, whose dam is directly out of the Blue Hors Don Schufro daughter Weihegold, who has been no. 1 in the world ranking with Isabell Werth after many international championship victories. Viva Gold has become one of Germany’s most sought-after young stallions by virtue of his first foal crops, which include several premium stallions.

On his dam side, you also find absolute top bloodlines through the damsire Rock Forever I NRW, who has made an impact in both breeding and sport, and the dam’s damsire Florestan I, who is one of the greatest foundation stallions of recent times.

Blue Hors Viva Vegas’ grand dam, Fräulein Smilla is a full sister to the licensed stallion Floris and has herself been successful in young horse classes. Her full sister, the state premium mare Fatme is the dam of the premium stallion Lautrec and the premium stallion Zion Incredible E, that are both successful in young horse classes.

The perfect choice

Earlier today, Martin Klavsen lead Blue Hors Viva Vegas out of the lorry and into his new home among fellow stallions. He is delighted to have the opportunity to add such a large capacity to the stallion collection.

– He possesses quality and functionality in excess. In terms of blood, he fits very well into our collection and thus also into our customers’ mare stock. All in all, he suits a wide range of mares and must be expected to be able to contribute with strong qualities such as temperament, rideability, functionality in the body and lots of mechanics in the movement, says Martin.

He and Nanna are looking forward to showing Blue Hors Viva Vegas at the Blue Hors and Stutteri Ask open house event on Saturday 30 March in Martofte, Denmark.
