Anti Itch - an herbal-based itch relief

A well-groomed mane and tail exude health and well-being and bring joy on those days when you look out over the paddock at your horse or pony running with the wind in its mane and tail – or after a good grooming session in the stable!

Therefore, it can be frustrating for both you and your horse when your horse or pony seems plagued by skin itchiness and begins to excessively scratch its beautiful coat. To help your horse and relieve any discomfort and itchiness, as well as to preserve its mane and tail, we have developed an itch-relieving liniment in gel form, based on herbs, to keep itchiness at bay and maintain a tangle-free and easy-to-comb mane and tail.

The soothing properties of Anti Itch come from, among others, the cleansing abilities of calendula, which work against rashes, irritation, itchiness, and roughness, as well as the suitability of plantain for relieving all kinds of insect bites, sunburn, bumps, abrasions, and minor cuts. Additionally, annatto possesses antimicrobial properties and stinging nettle has great soothing abilities for skin irritations.

When using Anti Itch, we recommend applying a thin, evenly spread layer to the affected areas and massaging them carefully. Repeat this process three times a day in the first week, then twice a day in the second week, then once a day in the third week, and thereafter as needed.

Test of Anti Itch on Lara Wassermann's itchy mare

Lara Wassermann from the German magazine ‘Mein Pferd’ has tested and reviewed Blue Hors Anti Itch and describes her experience with the product as follows [translated from German]:

“Spring and summer unfortunately also bring insect time. As soon as the first rays of sun appear, the entire stable is buzzing, and even in the twilight, one is not spared from mosquitoes and unpleasant bites. Our horses are exposed to these insects all day long. They are often covered in new insect bites and need relief from itchy skin problems. Especially my forever-itchy mare, I am always looking for products that can make the warm months easier for her. Even though she goes out in the paddock wearing a good fly blanket, insects still manage to bite her as soon as the blanket is taken off in the stable. Especially the tail, mane, and forelegs are “popular” attack areas because the direction of hair growth allows stinging insects easier access to the skin than on the rest of the horse’s body.”

“Anti Itch from Blue Hors is convincing all the way through: pleasant texture, easy to spread, quickly absorbed, and non-greasy – at the same time, it brings a reliable, itch-relieving result.

“Anti Itch lasts a long time as the product is very economical. The cream’s texture is very light and liquid.

What impressed me the most is that this product does not leave a greasy layer. Almost all creams sold as itch-relief products, after a few days of use, cause the affected areas on the horse to be washed because the fur becomes completely greasy and dirty. Dirt that makes the horse’s hair oily and sticky and leads to even more itching. And if these greasy, oily areas are exposed to strong sunlight, it can even cause scalding on the horse’s skin. This is something that can be avoided with a product that neither greases nor sticks because it behaves more like a gel than an oil.”

“[…] My test mare scratched significantly less already in the beginning of the period of use, and the abrasions became less and less the longer the treatment was used. The skin absorbs the gel after a short time, so no product residue is visible in the fur. The product smells pleasant and natural, the bottle is easy to close and open, and can be used until the cream is used up.”
