Day 1 at the Dressage Festival has been full of good atmosphere and great dressage!

Cristian Tudela Ruiz and Blue Hors Dillon

The dressage festival’s first competition, MB2, had as many as four Blue Hors offspring in the top-5, one of which was our own Paralympic champion, Tobias Thorning Jørgensen, who on the back of Jolene Hill (by Blue Hors Schufro Hit/Windsor, breeder: Hanne Andreasen) achieved a great 70.198% and an impressive fifth place.

The winner of the competition, we will soon have the pleasure of again when she will be doing her school internship here at Blue Hors!

Katrine Johannsen, riding the Blue Hors Rockefeller son Rossander (breeder: Dorthe and Rikke Sandberg Svensson), won today’s MB2 in fine style with 71.250%. Katrine’s trainer is none other than our own rider Sophia Ludvigsen and together they have managed to prepare Rossander nicely for today’s task, where the gelding was awarded with 8 for both medium trot and gaits in the tough national show field.

Merrald's homebred Don Olymbrio in the top 3 of MA1

The Merrald family is behind today’s no. 3 in MA1; Lea Dyre Jespersen and Lykkesholms Duel by Blue Hors Don Olymbrio/Liberty Dane, who with 70.417% and 69.722% by judges C and B, had totally convinced 2/3 of the judges of their sky-high level. The two judges had Duel and Lea on first place, and breeders Helle and Nanna Merrald can only be proud of that.

Breeder Nanna Merrald says: “Duel was born on the day I was to debut in the Grand Prix at Millibar in Hedensted, where we were sent a picture that now he had come into the world!”

Lea Dyre Jespersen and Lykkesholms Duel

“Lykkesholms Duel is made from a cross between my new Grand Prix partner Don Olymbrio as sire, and my old Grand Prix partner Millibar’s dam, who we were allowed to buy and breed a foal on when the owner became ill – and Duel now go with my former groom from when I was self-employed and it’s just great to see them doing so well together!”

Cristian and Dillon with lots of power

Blue Hors rider Cristian Tudela Ruiz and Blue Hors Dillon (by Duisenberg/Samarant) were also at start in MA1, where they rode into 6th place. Two big mistakes, one in a canter pirouette and one in a change, meant that Cristian and Dillon had to settle for 67.361% after warming up to first place throughout most of their program.
