"It was so nerve-wrecking and I was so nervous, but now I feel total joy! It's years of hard work paying off and I'm so happy, proud of Zack and grateful for my team both here and at home"

Nanna Merrald Rasmussen

The expectations were sky high for the Danish riders, the excitement was enormous, the nerves at their peak – but of course they did it!

Blue Hors rider Nanna Merrald Rasmussen, breeding stallion Blue Hors Zack and the rest of the Danish senior national team can now call themselves world team champions! The Danish riders showed superb top class, and it paid off tenfold today, when the prizes were handed out and the gold medals hung around their necks in the FEI Blue Hors World Championships 2022

Nanna and Zack in top form

The Danish Olympic pair consisting of breeding stallion Blue Hors Zack (by Rousseau/Jazz, breeder: Bas Wilschut) and Blue Hors elite rider Nanna Merrald Rasmussen scored a wild 76.724% in yesterday’s opening Grand Prix and was of course applauded by an enthusiastic audience that had brought handkerchiefs for their eyes and Dannebrog flags to fly for the Danish riders and horses!

And now, together with the Danish team, Nanna and Zack can call themselves world champions!

Yesterday’s other Danish rider, Carina Cassøe Krüth and Heiline’s Danciera, scored a great 76.863% and, together with Nanna and Zack’s score, put the Danish team well ahead of the competition! However, there were several strong riders from the Netherlands, England and Germany who made the competition exciting with great scores and impressive rides.

On Sunday, the remaining two Danish riders were due for the competition, just as several of the best riders from the best-placed countries also had their starttime. Riders such as Isabell Werth, Charlotte Fry, Charlotte Dujardin, Frederic Wandres and Patrik Kittel, who are all at the absolute top of the world elite, had to defend their respective countries’ honor – and what a competition they put up!

BUT, none of them got past Denmark, who with Daniel Bachmann Andersen, who set a new personal record with Marshall-Bell in today’s Grand Prix with 76.584%, and the big winner of the day; Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, who with her ride to 81.864% on Vamos Amigos, delivered two decisive lots on the scales!
