Great 2nd place for Don Olymbrio and Nanna
At today’s CDI4* Grand Prix at Horses & Dreams meets Sweden in Hagen, the breeding stallion Don Olymbrio and Nanna Skodborg Merrald achieved a great 2nd place!
CDI Hagen is the first outdoor competition of the season for many of the world’s top riders, where the form developed during the winter is tested in international surroundings – and it was here that Nanna and Don O took part in the CDI4* classes!
With a smooth and well-executed program scoring 74.565%, Blue Hors rider Nanna Skodborg Merrald and the 15-year-old breeding stallion Blue Hors Don Olymbrio (by Jazz/Ferro, breeder: Jan Lamers) secured 2nd place on the podium in the CDI4* Grand Prix. The program was filled with loads of 8s and 8.5s, especially for the passage/piaffe and pirouettes, where Don Olymbrio really shows what he’s made of!
It looked like a win for a long time, until the last rider of the class, Frederic Wandres on Bluetooth OLD, entered the arena and snatched the victory from our Danish super combination.
It is clear that Nanna and Don O are getting to know each other better and better with each show. This CDI4* Grand Prix class was only their seventh competition together (and their first outdoor show), and it qualified them for Saturday’s Grand Prix Kür, which takes place under the impressive “floodlights” of the showgrounds. Before starting, riders had to choose whether they wanted to qualify for the Grand Prix Special or the Grand Prix Kür, and Don O’s class was for those who had chosen to qualify for Saturday night’s Grand Prix Kür.
